Notes on writing in two languages

I write this blog in English and Turkish, but not every post gets both. Some weeks I have the energy to write a piece twice, once in each language, and some weeks I only have it in me to write it once.

When a post exists in only one language, the language switch in the header still shows, but it takes you to the blog’s front page in the other language instead of to a translated version of the post that does not exist. There is a small note under the title saying the post is only available in the language you are reading it in, so it is never a surprise.

I thought about writing everything twice as a rule, then decided that would just mean writing less overall. It felt more honest to let the language follow whatever I actually had time and energy for, post by post, and let the tooling handle the rest quietly.

So if you land on a post and the Turkish or English version is missing, that is not a bug. It just means I have not gotten around to it yet, or never will for that particular one.
